Makeup Recipe #1: Homemade Organic Fabulous Face Powder

I know. Natural beauties don't need cosmetics. We are just naturally fabulous! Yet, we got to admit that occasionally we may need a bit of makeup to look more professional at work, or to impress our prince charming.

So, here comes our homemade recipe #1: Foundation Powder

This wonderful recipe contains rice flour which can fill in all fine lines and mask oiliness for a matte finish, without clogging pores. With a soft violet floral scent, orris root powder helps in maintaining skin elasticity and moisture level when used as a face powder. Effective in curing skin infections and inflammation, rose petals can bring in a soft rose colour and a soothing fragrance to this face powder. Cinnamon powder can darken the face powder to a shade close to your natural skin tone. It can also create a soft, sun-kissed glow. Since this recipe contains a number of organic herbs, you are recommended to do a patch test on your skin prior to use.

Ingredients:

  • 1 oz Organic Brown Rice Flour (for Asia climate)
  • 1 oz Organic Orriz Root Powder
  • 1/2 oz Organic Rose Petals
  • Finely ground Cinnamon Powder for normal skin or Cocoa Powder for sensitive skin

Steps:
  1. Gently crush the rose petals with a spoon
  2. Place the rose petals into a sterilized glass container
  3. Add in the rice flour and orris root powder
  4. Shake well
  5. Add in cinnamon powder until you get a shade close to your skin tone
  6. Shake well
  7. Seal the container
  8. Wait for 2 weeks, shake the container in daily basis
  9. Sift the powder into a pretty container

I have applied the powder onto my left hand and I could tell a noticeable difference between my left and right hand. This lightweight, natural face powder gives skin a silky smooth matte, translucent finish. It smells lovely too! :)

Hello my beauties!

Welcome to my new blog!

This blog is meant for all the gorgeous girls in Asia, especially in HK, who are interested in natural beauty care. This blog is also dedicated to my mother, who fought breast cancer courageously, and have inspired me to be more "green".

As a lot of natural cosmetics out there may not be as "natural" as it seems,  I prefer to know exactly what I am applying on my skin. Staying away from toxic chemicals can enhance your natural beauty, and reduce the risk of getting cancer. Making your own face powder, hair conditioner or face cleansing oil may not be as difficult as it seems and it's much more cost efficient.

I will publish all my successful home-made recipes from time to time, so stay tuned! :)

With love,
The Natural Beauty HK
